A message from the Matlock Festival of Music, Art and Nature team

Just like land that must sit fallow, the festival is in rejuvenation mode. Tending to the site and scaling back programs means that there will be no festival or large event this summer 2016. This summer we are focused on restoring the land, generating new ideas, hosting small programs and planning toward future programs and parameters of our mandate, which is to provide support, employment and mentorship to youth and others interested in arts, music, sustainable land use and healthy living.

This summer we welcome a new team member Liz Shearer to help us focus on research and development of our land and help us lift up our mandate in a way that is sustainable for our team and the land. We are happy to have her to help liaise with community, foster creative relationships and conduct research to ensure that our projects and programs can continue to inspire and support our community.

We are also lucky to have the good services of Liam Deighten who is building his first "tiny house" as a retreat space and has graced the land with his unique upcyc Benches at rest stops throughout the beautiful landscape.

Micah Erenberg is lending his time to Recording and Musician support and will host a Songwriting Workshop with Brett Nelson as part of our mini workshop series this September 2nd, 2016.

See our 2016 workshop page for more information about upcoming programming.

The land is magical as always. Fields growing in and abounding in thousands of Native plants, Grasses, wild forest, hideaway spots, land art, etc. Friends, neighbors and community continue to grace us with their input and enjoyment of land. We will continue to provide programming this summer and into the future. Stay tuned!

Ideas and input welcome. Feel free to reach us by email: info@matlockfestival.ca
